dB Blocker Styles
Because dB Blockers are fully custom-fit to every individual’s unique ears, we offer a number of specifications to protection level and radio use enablement, as well as options to improve user experience and comfort.
dB Blockers have a noise reduction rating (NRR) of 23 – 28, depending on the configuration.

Y-Vent
While protection from harmful noise is required in every noisy workplace, some environments require enhanced situational awareness or interpersonal communication that hearing protection can sometimes hinder.
That’s why dB Blockers can be made in non-vented, vented or Y-vented options that provide protection without hindering your team’s ability to do their jobs.
- Non-Vented dB Blockers: The highest noise-reduction option, non-vented dB Blockers are best for environments where radio or interpersonal communication isn’t needed, but maximum noise protection is.
- Vented dB Blockers: Using the same protective silicone, vented dB Blockers feature a small vent equipped with a priority FT Filter that blocks harmful noise but lets some frequencies through. Perfect for those who need to talk to coworkers on the job or need to hear their surroundings. They can also connect to radios, passing only the sounds you want to hear directly to your ear.
- Y-Vent dB Blockers: Similar to vented dB Blockers, Y-vents are specific for dB Blockers that connect to radios and other communication devices but have a second vent and FT filter that also allow for interpersonal communication.

Metal Detectable
For environments where losing hearing protectors could impact safety and sanitization, like the food and beverage or pharmaceutical industries, dB Blockers can be made metal-detectable so they can be easily found if they fall out of your ear.
Radio Connection Options
For those who work in noisy environments but still need to use radios or other communication devices on the job, dB Blockers can be paired with one of our dB Com connectors to allow for radio sound to flow directly through your hearing protection.
Thousands of Possible Custom Combinations
Just as every individual’s ears are unique, every person has unique preferences when it comes to personal style. That’s why we offer dB Blockers in 15 different colors — from neutrals like tan, black and clear to statement colors, like red, blue and sparkle pink — and with several different cord styles that connect your dB Blockers together.
Between color and cord options, vents and other features, there are thousands of possible combinations, ensuring all of your protection requirements are met with every pair.
How to Choose dB Blockers for Your Team
When you get in touch with your local account rep for the first time, they will gather some information about your team, your work environment and any specific requirements you might have for your hearing PPE. Then, they will recommend a specific dB Blocker style and any additional features that will best fit your team. It’s that easy!
